Director of Annual Giving


Position Summary:
The Director of Annual Giving has the primary responsibility for soliciting and stewardship of annual gifts from alumni, faculty, staff and friends to support the academic and philanthropy priorities of the university. Reports to the Director of Development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, supervise and coordinate strategies and programs to identify and solicit constituents of the university not considered major gift prospects. This includes but not limited to use of direct mail, on-line communications, social media, phonathon, special events, personal correspondence and personal visits. Manage the giving program directed to students to introduce them to philanthropy.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in organizing, implementing and managing fundraising, sales, marketing or related fields. Demonstrated team player and relationship building skills. Master’s degree and five years of experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent people skills are essential. The position requires working closely with colleagues in advancement, alumni and friends of the university, retired faculty and staff in addition to all campus departments.

Ability to set goals, track and evaluate programs and analyze results are critical. Must develop new strategies to identify annual giving donors who are prospects for major gifts or planned gifts.

Identify and work with volunteers, students and other constituent groups on a regular and consistent basis.

Participate in campus activities and committees to raise the profile of the annual giving program on campus.

Seek professional training in the field of fundraising to monitor giving trends and develop a network of relevant contacts. Seek innovative ideas and incorporate these into the overall fundraising plan as appropriate.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Hours are typically 8 am to 5 pm weekdays, but are flexible as evening and weekend work is often required.
